Everyone wants to be heard. Few know how.
“I wish they would just listen to me.”
I hear this from rising stars all the time.
They feel stuck. Full of ideas, full of potential, but unable to break through.
They know they have something valuable to offer.
And often, they're right.
Except…
They’re so focused on their thoughts that they miss the message leadership is sending.
Influence rarely begins with speaking.
It begins with listening, especially to the people who decide which ideas move forward.
Not because leadership is perfect.
Not because your perspective isn’t valuable.
You don't gain ground by pushing harder.
You gain it by understanding what is critical to the other person.
When you wonder,
“Why won’t they listen to me?”
Ask yourself:
“Do I truly understand what they’re trying to accomplish?”
Everyone wants to be heard.
Few listen well enough to use their voice.
