Halfway There: Now What?
The last firework has cracked. The grill is cold. The cooler is empty.
We’ve just crossed the unofficial high point of summer here in the States, July 4th, and we’re officially past the midpoint of the year. I talked about this in a video earlier this week: we’re halfway through 2025.
This year has been nothing like what I expected for myself and my family. I think back to December 31st and all the ideas I had for what this year would hold.
Some predictions were spot on:
Close out the fiscal year strong at my employer
Continue on my coaching journey
Plan and take a family vacation
Our girls start their homeschool journey and spend most of their time with us
But some shifts were unexpected and significant:
Turning OEC Solutions from a side business into a full-time vocation
My wife launching her own entrepreneurial venture
Figuring out age-appropriate activities for the kids that don’t feel like another full-time commitment
A new roof and new appliances (because life happens)
And there are still attainable ambitions:
Prioritize my health
Earn several more coaching designations
Celebrate a significant anniversary in a memorable way
Feel the sand in our toes and saltwater in our hair
But this is par for the course. Looking back, when we mapped out our plans for last year, nowhere on the list included a cross-country move. And yet, twelve months later, our life looked radically different. It wasn’t what we planned, but it was the right thing for us.
So here’s the reminder: just because the year doesn’t start exactly as planned doesn’t mean it can’t be the year you needed.
There are just under 180 days left.
What needs to happen for you to look back and feel proud of 2025?
More importantly, how will you make it happen?
Take five minutes today. Write down three things that would make the next six months a win, and get moving. And if you care to share, I’d love to see what they are, so I can root you on.
