Where Your Energy Goes, Your Life Flows
Earlier this week, I was asked, "What religion do you practice?"
I paused, thought for a moment, and said, "I don't really practice one."
But here's what I do believe, and what I've seen play out time and time again:
What you focus on is what you get. Good, bad, or somewhere in between, your thoughts have a way of showing up in real life.
Lately, I've been paying a lot more attention to the concept of energy. If you're carrying around negative vibes, you're probably going to find more of that showing up, sometimes in the most inconvenient ways. I love my in-laws dearly, but traveling with them and their belief that any and everything will go wrong, exponentially increases the likelihood of a delayed flight and/or lost luggage. I’ve seen it happen. Multiple times.
It's the same principle they teach you when you learn to drive a racecar. One of the first things they tell you is "Don't look at the wall."
Why? Because you go where your eyes and your energy go. Focus on not hitting the wall, and you'll steer straight into it.
Life works the same way. So often, we pour all our energy into fighting or avoiding what we don't want: stress, setbacks, disappointments, and we unintentionally steer ourselves right into them.
So here's a simple challenge for you (and for me):
Instead of asking, "What am I trying to avoid?" ask, "What do I want more of?"
Where do you actually want to go?
What would change for you if you put your focus there, today, this week, this month?
Here's to steering toward what you want...and watching your life follow.
