Trying to Get It Right
There is a lot happening this time of year.
We’re trying to close the year strong.
Honor commitments we made months ago.
And somehow create a holiday season that feels magical, without losing our sanity in the process.
As I reconcile the list of presents purchased, match the right wrapping paper, and realize we’ve bought an unequal number of gifts for our kids, I feel my sanity slipping.
There is a lot of pressure.
Pressure to get it right.
To make it memorable.
To create the kind of moments that become core memories (for the right reasons).
At times, the stakes feel higher than any professional encounter.
And they are.
When the most important people in your life are counting on you, “good enough” doesn’t feel good enough. Everything feels like it has to be unforgettable.
That pressure creates stress.
And it means a little bit more.
Pressure is a privilege.
May you and yours be privileged.
Happy holidays.
